Having built a successful sixteen-year career in the international oil & gas, mining & metals industries, I have seen large-scale systems in action:
- transparent processes forcing you to meet tight deadlines,
- best practices for outstanding results,
- the pressure for cost optimization,
- a full-scale picture to manage the risks,
- intended values to unlock people’s potential and create a safe space at work.
And the human inside them: what makes us tick, light up and feel we actually belong. As a top manager of a $5.5 billion start-up project, it became clear to me that people are the key to the success of a system.
However, my own personal life was caught in loops, making me question whether there was a system of its own, defining the outcome of love stories again and again and enforcing the very painful and already familiar heartbreak.
That led me down the rabbit hole of within, on a journey that showed the very different sides of myself no prestigious career could provide the space for: artistic, musical, feminine and rather sensual.
I’ve discovered the price we pay for sticking to the assigned roles, whether those are assigned by parents, society or the circumstances of life itself — roles that force us to adapt, give in, settle and, frankly, often abandon ourselves.
We do our best to survive in this world, wishing the pain away, accepting suffering as a norm, believing that having it all is a magic dream no grown-up can sustain.
And yes, it’s not about pushing for more, ignoring the consequences and paying the price afterward.
To me, it is about not giving up.
Trusting yourself and your dreams. Allowing yourself to become who you sense deep inside that you could. Glowing into the world with the frequency only you can bring.
